Republicans in the Senate just passed a measure that would gut the President’s Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood.

There are many things I don’t understand about the right-wing agenda, but this has got to top the list.

The Affordable Care Act provides health insurance to 17.6 million Americans, and Planned Parenthood provides critical health care services and information to 2.7 million men and women.

By putting forth measures to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip Planned Parenthood of government funding, the GOP is effectively telling millions of Americans — and especially women — that their access to affordable health care doesn’t matter as much as the Republicans’ quest to appease conservative special interest groups.

I believe healthcare is a right, not a political pawn.
