House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) visited Indianapolis Friday to speak at an event hosted by Congressman André Carson (D-Indianapolis).
The event at Central Library was billed as a place to talk about women’s equality, the economy, minimum wage and health care.
One audience member asked Pelosi about the working poor who accumulate medical debt because they don’t have insurance. Pelosi says it’s crucial to increase support for community health centers.
“They are such an important resource for help, and we are just in this period now of sending, writing legislation in the committee to go to the floor for increased funding for the community health centers,” Pelosi says.
